![]() DEBBIE WOODCOCK When
I was a kid I would listen to Punk Rock and Jazz. The first record I ever
bought was Marc Bolan and T Rex and my second record was Doris Day's
Greatest Hits. To say my musical tastes were diverse would be an
understatement and I have kept in touch with all styles ever since. I
first started singing on stage in my late teens/ early twenties as part of
Mayhem Drama Group. We were very much a revue type show and I was involved
in writing and performing funny sketches, skits of popular films and TV
shows and rewriting funny words to pop songs of the day. That's where the
singing came in, no one else would sing the songs so I had to! Anyway
one day one of the guys in the audience asked me if I fancied singing in a
band. I thought about it for two seconds and said yes. That was one steep
learning curve, I had never sung down a microphone before let alone sing
with real musicians. Over the past fifteen years I have had the privilege of
singing with many bands from rock, soul, blues to jazz. I even sang with a
big band once. I love to sing all styles; diversity is still the thing
that keeps music interesting for me. Now singing with Blurred Vision I
have joined my ultimate band, a group of guys who can play everything and
play everything well, what more could a vocalist ask for.
Hope to see you at a gig sometime
